If you ask a few people, you will see that there are varying views about the manifest function of education. However, there is one common answer to this question. In fact, this is one of the main questions that I get asked from people who have studied the concept of education. So, let us go through the basics of this answer.
To start off with, we need to understand: that a person’s education is a mirror to his internal being. When his life is in harmony and balance, his work, both professional and personal, also reflects this. So when we say that his education is his manifest function, we are saying that the strength or weakness of any of his actions is reflected by his inner being. And if we look at this in a deeper level, it is the result of his thoughts and his emotions which make him feel strong or weak.
Now, when it comes to the question of education: people often use different terms to describe what they mean by it. Some use the term evolution. Others call it globalization. Still, there are others like to define it as the merging of the old world economy with the new world economy. Therefore, when we talk about the manifest function of education, it is really about the merging of the old world economy and the development of the new one.
This leads us back to the original question asked above: And that is – what happens when you have a world economy that is based on obsolete practices and values? What happens when old methods of teaching and learning are replaced with new ones that are more efficient? How would you be able to transform your life from a poor country with lots of illiteracy to an advanced world where almost every single person can read and write? This is how education can manifest.
There are many ways how you can manifest the manifest function of education: However, the most important part is that you should learn how to inspire and motivate your students. As an educator, you should take time to listen to them, to understand their problems, concerns and questions. You should offer them tools that they can use to solve their problems and you should encourage them to make their own future. When you do this, it will lead you to the globalization of education. In fact, once you inspire students around the world, no one will stop you from going to school and giving them the best education they deserve.
You don’t need expensive and complicated methods: All you need to do is to be willing to pay attention to students. You have to be able to recognize when their needs are not being met, when they are being neglected, and when they are being left behind.
Once you are able to recognize those things, you will be able to properly manifest education for your students.
