Medicine Education deals with the educational process of obtaining a medical degree. In United States, a student has to successfully complete the undergraduate program in a university and also pass an examination to become eligible for admission into a medical school that offers degree courses. After you get admitted into a medical college or university, you will have to undergo an academic pre-requisite course, which covers subjects such as biology, mathematics and chemistry to impart knowledge about these subjects to you. After this course, you will need to attend two years of specialized course work at one of the medical schools available in the United States. During the course, students will learn about the theoretical aspect of the medical science, as well as about clinical practices. After completing this course, you will be awarded your medicine degree.
The pre-requisites required for getting admitted into a medical school varies from one state to another, but generally all you need is a high school diploma or the equivalent to get in. For getting into a good medical school, one needs to fulfill the General Medical Council (GMC) basic degree, G.M.C. A. (either the basic or the senior year), and also complete the medical education course offered by the institute. Completion of this course is required in every medical educational institution, even if a student is not going to get admitted into a residency program after completing his/her undergraduate degree.
Once you get admitted into a medical college, you will find various options of continuing your education in medicine. You can go for a Master’s in Health Policy or a Medical Doctor (M.D.) degree. There are various specializations that are available for those who wish to specialize in particular aspects of health care like pediatrics, cardiology, ophthalmology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology etc.
